Becca, the creator of The Nest

Why I built this

The tool I wish I'd had.

I'm Becca, the creator behind Off Script. When I started thinking seriously about maternity leave, I realised I wanted to understand exactly what it would mean for us financially, not just roughly hope we had enough saved.

I wanted to know what time away from work would actually cost, what we as a couple were realistically working towards, and what I could do now to feel prepared.

Between employer pay, government leave, current savings, baby costs and figuring out how long I actually wanted off, the numbers started to feel unnecessarily confusing.

So I built the tool I wish I'd had: something simple that brings everything together, helps you understand your own numbers, and turns them into a clear savings target and monthly plan.

More than anything, I want women to go into maternity leave feeling empowered, prepared and financially confident, with a clear understanding of what their leave could look like.

I hope you enjoy! Becca x

Questions, answered

What does The Nest work out for me?

Your Nest Egg: the amount to save before baby arrives, based on your income, expected leave pay, current savings, how long you want off, and how much of your normal income you'd like to maintain. It then turns that into a monthly savings plan.

Does it tell me how much maternity pay I'm entitled to?

No. You enter the figures that apply to you from your employer and government or statutory scheme. That means the tool can work across different countries and employment setups.

Can I use it if I'm self-employed?

Yes. You can enter the income you realistically expect to receive during leave and build your plan around that.
